Our Acharya: Bridging Ancient Wisdom with Modern Vision
Celebrating the 75th Birthday of Dr. Ramachandra G Bhat

About Our Acharya
Prof. Acharya Ramachandra Bhat Kotemane was born in the Kotemane Agrahara of Yellapur Taluk. After completing his primary education in his native village, he pursued higher studies in Gokarna, Mysuru, and other centers of learning, studying at the feet of numerous distinguished scholars.
He has dedicated his entire life to the field of education. For over 50 years, he has made the Janaseva Parisara his Tapobhoomi (sanctifying the space through steadfast penance and selfless service), guiding and mentoring thousands of students in their academic and personal lives, as well as hundreds more in the fields of Sanskrit studies and research. He has been a beacon of guidance—not just for academic learning, but for life itself.
As a senior Karyakarta of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), he is one of the prime movers behind the Karnataka Gurukula Prakalpa, initiated under the inspiration of the Sangha. He has also shouldered the national responsibility for the Gurukula Project under the Bharatiya Shikshan Mandal. His illustrious career spans from serving as a school teacher to a University Vice-Chancellor, handling diverse responsibilities with grace.
Beginning with the Janaseva Trust, he has served numerous institutions and organizations, having consecrated his life to the cause of Veda Shastras and education. Even now, he continues to lead classes on the Brahmasutra at Veda Vijnana Gurukulam and Geeta Satsanga at S-VYASA in his role as the Director of the Varahamihira Vedic Research Center. He stands as a true inspiration for the next generation. In recognition of his immense contributions, he has been bestowed with numerous honors, ranging from the Bhavabhuti Puraskara to the Brahmarshi Puraskara.
